Help Plant Trees and Support Local Wildlife!

Wistow Parish Council is inviting residents to join us for a community tree sapling planting day at Oaklands Avenue Playing Field. The saplings have kindly been provided by The Woodland Trust, helping us make our local green spaces even better for nature and future generations.

Trees play an important role in supporting biodiversity. As they grow, they provide food, shelter and nesting opportunities for birds, insects and other wildlife. They can also help support pollinators, improve air quality, absorb carbon dioxide and contribute to a greener, healthier environment for everyone to enjoy.

By planting these young trees together, we can help create a more wildlife-friendly playing field and make a lasting, positive contribution to our local environment. It is also a great opportunity to get involved in a practical community project and help shape the future of our village.

Everyone is welcome! Whether you can plant one sapling or help with several, every pair of hands will make a difference.

What to bring:

  • Shovels and spades
  • Suitable outdoor clothing and footwear for the weather and ground conditions
  • Drinking water

A risk assessment will be read out before planting begins to ensure everyone understands the arrangements for working safely.

We hope you can join us, get your hands dirty and help Wistow grow greener!
