VE Day – 80 years

8 May 1945 – Victory in Europe Day (VE DAY) – is a day etched in the memory of everyone who witnessed it. After nearly six years of war Germany officially surrendered on 7 May 1945 and the conflict was finally over. It will be 80 years since VE Day on 8th May 2025.

Wistow Parish Council, the Village Hall, the Women’s Institute, the Church and the Three Horseshoes have been working hard behind the scenes to celebrate 80 years of VE Day on 8th May 2025. Please do follow their socials of those mentioned for some exciting events taking place.

Wistow Parish Council has successfully applied for grant funding from Warboys Impact Group and we are pleased to say that a VE Day flag has been purchased together with lots of VE Day bunting and lamppost signs.

Furthermore, we are asking that any residents who would like to join in on the celebrations to dress their houses with bunting and memorabilia. We would also love to see the children of the village design some artwork and place up in the windows.
