Training & Development Policy

woman reading book

Wistow Parish Council recognises the importance of training and development in ensuring that councillors and staff have the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to carry out their roles effectively.

The Council is committed to supporting ongoing learning and professional development to promote good governance, legal compliance, effective decision-making and the delivery of high-quality services to the community.

The Training and Development Policy sets out the Council’s approach to identifying training needs, providing relevant learning opportunities and reviewing development requirements. Training may include induction for newly elected councillors and new staff, relevant courses, workshops, professional qualifications and updates on changes to legislation or guidance.

The Council will consider training and development needs as part of its ongoing review of individual roles and responsibilities, taking account of available resources and the needs of the Council.

By investing in training and development, the Council aims to maintain high standards of professionalism, accountability and service to the parish.

For further information about the Council’s training and development arrangements, please contact the Parish Clerk.
